Our research is mainly focused on the:

  • investigation of patterns and processes related to taxonomic and functional diversity of aquatic organisms, as well as to the aspects associated to their conservation

  • study of interactions among aquatic communities and between aquatic and terrestrial environments

  • identification of the environmental variables that are responsible for structuring the aquatic communities at different spatial and temporal scales

  • test of hypothesis related to patterns of population and community organization in different spatial/temporal scales and the identification of ecological and evolutionary determinants of such patterns under the scope of conservation biology

  •  study of aspects associated to water quality and its implications to the conservation of aquatic communities
